ZLINE Gas Ranges Recall Class Action Lawsuit lawyer attorney sue liability hazard risk

On January 26, 2023, ZLINE expanded a previous recall. The recall now includes the ZLINE 30-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch RG gas ranges. According to the recall, number 23-107, the oven of the affected gas ranges can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide during use; this poses a risk of injury or death due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The recall includes a total of approximately 30,000 units.

All of the following models are included in this recall:

    • 48-inch gas ranges – RG48, RGS-48, and RGB-48
    • 36-inch gas ranges – RG36, RGS-36 and RGB-36
    • 30-inch gas ranges – RG30, RGS-30, and RGB-30

The affected gas ranges were available in multiple door colors including black matte, blue gloss, blue matte, DuraSnow, white matte, red gloss, and red matte. They were also available in multiple finishes, including cloudy steel finish, DuraSnow, black stainless steel, and stainless steel.

The ZLINE logo can be found printed on the bottom of the oven door. The model number can be find printed on a label adhered to the back of the rage. In ranges purchased after 2020, the model number can also be found on a label under the right side of the range top (visible when the oven door is open).

The gas ranges were available in store at Best Buy, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, and The Range Hood Stores locations nationwide. The ranges were also available online via www.bestbuy.com, www. costco.com, www.build.com, www.homedepot.com, www. therangehoodstore.com, www.overstock.com, and www.wayfair.com. They were sold from February 2019 through December 2022 for prices ranging from $2,300 to $6,900.

According to the recall, the company has received at least 44 reports of carbon monoxide emission; this includes 3 reports of consumers seeking medical attention.

The company is urging all affected consumers to stop using the oven compartment of their ranges until it is repaired; they are also offering free in-home repairs.

If you or a loved one suffered carbon monoxide poisoning because of the defective ZLINE gas ranges, it is important that you do not agree to a free repair. Understanding Possible Injuries

As explained above, the recalled gas ranges represent a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is produced by burning gasoline, wood, propane, charcoal, and other fuel. In homes, appliances that are improperly ventilated or are defective can pose a significant risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when there is too much carbon monoxide in the bloodstream. Simply, breathing in carbon monoxide replaces oxygen in the blood, which can result in tissue damage and potentially death. Some common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include the following:

    • Dull headaches
    • Weakness
    • Dizziness
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Shortness of breath
    • Confusion
    • Blurred vision
    • Loss of consciousness

Unfortunately, the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning can be subtle or confused for other conditions. When the symptoms are not caught on time, brain damage and death are likely to occur.

    Steps to Take

You might be wondering what to do if you or a loved one suffered carbon monoxide poisoning due to the recalled ZLINE gas ranges. Consider the following suggestions:

    • Seek medical attention as soon as possible (this should be the priority)
