On February 5, 2026, Zan International Trading issued a recall for their Lotus Joy Organic Sweet Birch Essential Oil Bottles. According to the recall (number 26-229), the essential oil bottles contain methyl salicylate, which is required to be in child-resistant packaging as required by law. The recalled essential oil bottles are not child-resistant, meaning that the products represent a poisoning risk if contents are swallowed by young children.
The recall specifically involves about 470 units of the product.
The essential oils come in a 0.34 fluid ounce amber bottles with a black cap; they come with a separate glass dropper with a black cap. The essential oil bottle has a white label with orange and black text on it. The words “LotusJoy,” “organic,” “sweet birch,” “essential oil,” and “Betula lenta” can be found printed on the front of the label; the ingredients and directions are located on the back of the label. The product packaging is a blue box with the same information (in the same colors) in the front/back of the packaging.
The products were sold on Amazon.com from August 2025 to November 2025 for about $13 each. According to the manufacturer, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The company is urging affected consumers to immediately secure the recalled essential oil and put it both out of sight and out of reach of children and contact them for a full refund.
However, if your child suffered any harm associated with the recalled products, then you should not simply agree to a refund. Based on the details surrounding your specific situation and the resulting harm, you could have the right to file a lawsuit. You could also be entitled to recover monetary compensation.
