On February 5, 2026, Furnulem issued a recall for their 5-Drawer Dressers. According to the recall, number 26-247, the recalled dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall. The dressers pose a tip-over and entrapment hazard that can lead to serious injuries or death to children. In addition, the Furnulem dressers violate the STURDY Act.
The recall affects approximately 50 units of the product.
The wooden, white dressers measure about 31.5 inches tall by 15.75 inches long by 50.2 inches wide. They have a top with recessed power outlets. Each drawer has two round knobs. The recall only includes dressers that did not come with feet extensions. Model “HK-DS-017-CL-5D-1-W” is printed on the product packaging.
The dressers were sold on Amazon.com in July 2025 for approximately $140 each. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
Consumers are being urged to immediately stop using the dressers if they are not anchored. Unanchored dressers should also be placed in an area that children cannot access. The company is recommending that consumers contact them for instructions on disposing the dressers in exchange for a refund.
If your child was injured or killed in a tip-over incident caused by the recalled Furnulem dressers, it is important that you know that you have the right to more than just a refund. You could have the right to file a lawsuit and receive compensation for your child’s injuries or wrongful death. If you are ready to explore the legal options available to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Normandie Law Firm today.
The Injuries that Can Occur
Young children are most at risk of suffering harm due to the defective 5-drawer dressers. As mentioned, the dressers can be unstable if they are not properly anchored to the wall. These dressers can tip over and lead to entrapment. Children can become trapped under the dresser; they may be pinned down at the chest or the neck. This compression can ultimately result in asphyxiation. It takes just a few minutes of entrapment to result in a fatal incident.
Children that survive the entrapment may be left suffering from a host of other injuries, including fractures, sprains/strains, head injuries, traumatic brain injuries, lacerations, and psychological harm such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and more.
What To Do If Your Child Is Harmed
If your child was harmed as a result of the defective drawer recalled by Furnulem, you should consider the following recommended steps to take:
- Seek medical attention immediately (if the incident is fatal, ensure that the cause of the incident is clear)
- Take photos of any visible injuries
- Take photos of the defective product and the scene of the accident
- Contact the company to report the incident and resulting injuries
- Do not agree to a refund, a replacement, or any remedy offered by the company
- Seek the guidance of a recall lawyer immediately
