Aterian PurSteam Steamers Recall Class Action Lawsuit

Aterian PurSteam Steamers Recall Class Action Lawsuit sue liable incident lawyer attorney compensation

On February 5, 2026, Aterian issued a recall for two of their steamers, the PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamers and the PurSteam Elite Travel Steamers. According to the recall, number 26-250, the steamers can expel hot water from the nozzle during use, which poses a serious burn risk to consumers. The recall affects over 75,000 units of the product.

    The recall specifically includes the steamers purchased after December 2020, or with one of the following date codes: 2310, 2308, 2305, 2304, 2303, 2212, 2211, 2210, 2203, 2112, 2111, 2110, 0221, 1019, and 4619.

The Elite Travel Steamer is white with a triangular-shaped opening for steam vents. It has the logo printed below a wave-shaped water reservoir window. On the label on the bottom of the product, there is “Model: PS-510” printed.

The Mighty Lil Steamer is also white. It has an oblong-shaped opening for the vents. It also has the logo printed below the water reservoir window as well as “Model: PS 550” printed on a label on the bottom of the steamer.

Both steamers have the manufacture date code on the label on the bottom of the product (in YYMM format).

According to the recall, from December 2020 to 2024, there were 80 reports of hot water being expelled from the Travel Steamer, including 14 burn injuries. Between the same timeframe, there were 392 reports of hot water being expelled from the Mighty Lil Steamer, including 40 burn injuries (with two of them being second-degree burns). There are also additional reports of hot water being expelled from the steamers, although these reports are prior to December 2020, before the company acquired PurSteam.

The products were available for purchase via Amazon.com, and Walmart.com, and Pursteam.com. The PurSteam Elite Travel Steamer (model PS-510) was available from December 2020 through April 2025 for prices ranging from $15 to $35. The Mighty Lil Steamer (model PS-550) was available from December 2020 through January 2024 for prices ranging from $11 to $30.

The company is urging all consumers affected by the recall to stop using the product and visit their website to submit a Recall Request. As part of this request, consumers will need to provide their contact information, cut the product’s cord, and upload a photo of the steamer with the cut cord in order to be eligible for a full refund. Consumers should also keep the steamers until they receive their refunds, as some consumers may be asked to return the steamer to the company.
