On February 5, 2026, Linkers Organic Zing Birch Oil Bottles issued a recall for their Organic Zing Birch Oil Bottles. According to the recall, recall number 26-242, the essential oil bottles contain methyl salicylate, which is required to be in child-resistant packaging (as is required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act or PPPA). The recall affects approximately 940 units of the product.
The affected essential oil product come in amber bottles with black continuos thread caps and a beige and green label with white and black labeling. On the front of the bottle, the Organic Zing logo, “Birch Oil,” and “Pure & Naturual” are printed. The same information is also printed on the front of the beige and green box packaging. “Made in India” can be found of the back of said packaging.
The recalled product was sold for about $20 on Amazon.com from January 2024 through November 2025.
According to the recall, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The company is urging all affected consumers to secure the recalled essential oil bottles, keep them out of sight and out of reach of children, and contact them for information on getting a full refund and destroying the recalled bottles.
If your child suffered poisoning as a result of the defective product, it is important that you explore the legal options available to you. You could have the right to file a lawsuit. To ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the legal options available to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to our legal team as soon as possible. The Normandie Law Firm is more than ready to help you with your claim.
The Injuries that Could Occur Due to the Defective Packaging
The reason for the recall is that the essential oil is not in child-resistant packaging, making the essential oil, which contains methyl salicylate, accessible to children. If a child ingests methyl salicylate, poisoning can occur. Even just a small sip of a substance containing methyl salicylate can be life-threatening. Some of the main symptoms of poisoning may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tinnitus, and tachypnea (or fast, shallow breathing). In severe instances, these symptoms are more pronounced and may include sweating, weakness, fever, and dehydration.
What To Do If Your Child Is Harmed
You may have questions about what steps to take if your child sustained any harm due to methyl salicylate poisoning associated with the defective product. So, what should you do? Consider some of the recommended steps below:
- Take photos of the defective product
- Take photos of your child (your child may look visibly ill)
- Seek immediate medical attention and follow all treatment plans
- Contact the company to report the defect and the harm suffered
- Do not agree to a refund, a replacement, or a return
- Never sign any document provided by the company or accept any remedy offered
- Reach out to an experienced recall lawyer
How Can I Join or Be a Part of a Class Action Lawsuit on this Case?
