SunVilla Corporation is recalling 400,000 units of their 10-feet Solar LED Market Umbrellas. The umbrella has solar panels at the top, which contain lithium-ion batteries. So far, there have been 6 reports of the batteries overheating and catching fire. Among these incidents, one person was injured from smoke inhalation.
The chairs were sold through Costco and Costo.com between December 2020 and May 2022. SunVilla is urging customers to return the item to a Costco warehouse or contact them directly for a full refund. In the meantime, customers should remove the lithium ion battery puck at the top of the umbrella and store it away from heat, light, and flammable materials.
