How To Obtain A Traffic Collision Report from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office
To obtain a traffic accident police report from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, you can submit a request in person at 1350 Norris Road, Bakersfield, CA 93308 during hours of operation—Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You must present valid photo identification like a driver’s license, passport, resident alien card, or school ID. Only parties involved in the accident can request copies of the accident report. This includes drivers, passengers, parents or guardians of minors involved, owners of damaged property, insurance companies, and legal representatives. Upon in-person request, you will need to provide the fee that applies to your request.
If you are unable to make your request in person, you can submit a request via U.S mail. You must include as much information as possible in your written request—report number, date of the incident, the location of the incident, and names of other drivers involved. Your written request must be notarized and must include a print of your right thumb. You must also include a copy of a form of photo identification and a money order for the applicable fees.
