Vehicle Hits and Seriously Injures 4 Pedestrians in Los Alamitos Before Crashing Near Bank | 10-11-2017
On Wednesday afternoon, October 11, a vehicle struck four pedestrians in Los Alamitos leaving them critically injured. The crash was reported at about 2:11 p.m. and occurred near Ball Road and Bloomfield Street. According to reports by the Orange County Fire Authority, a total of five people were injured. The driver of the car was a 37-year-old woman and was also injured in the crash. The cause of the accident is still under investigation; however, authorities have said that the use of drugs and alcohol was not suspected to be involved. According to reports, the car was traveling on Bloomfield Street when it headed northbound on the southbound lanes, going directly against traffic. The car went through an intersection and hit four people standing on one corner, inflicting severe injury. Police have reported that they are not suspected to be in life-threatening condition. Some of the people were two men between ages 18 and 19, who were students at an instructional program at the Los Alamitos Unified School District. The other two people hit was a man and a woman who are instructional aids with the program. Aerial footage from Sky5 showed a silver sedan crashed next to a Chase Bank, and debris was scattered across the street next to the bank. All five people involved in the accident were taken to the hospital to treat their injuries, but their conditions have not yet been released.
