On Febrary 6, 2026, Semfri issued a recall for their Children’s Helmets. According to the recall, number 26-239, the helmets violate the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets because they fail to comply with positional stability, impact attenuation, labeling, and certification requirements. The recall affects about 300 units of the product.
The recall affects helmets in multiple colors, including orange, black, navy blue, blue, pink, white, and red. The Semfri-branded children’s multi-purpose-helmets were available in size Medium (M), fitting a head circumference of about 20.5 inches to 22.8 inches. The helmets have black padding, black straps, and a black buckle. The helmets also have a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet used for adjusting the fit. The size of the helmet is printed on a black circle label inside the helmet.
The defective helmets were sold online via Walmart.com from June 2025 through November 2025 for prices ranging from $19 and $28.
According to the recall, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The company is urging all affected consumers to immediately stop using the affected helmets and contact Semfri for a full refund. They are recommending that consumers cut the straps to destroy the helmet and send a photo to the company.
However, if your child was injured as a result of the defective helmet, you should not simply agree to a refund. You could be entitled to receive monetary compensation for the harm that your child suffered. To ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the legal options available to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to our legal team here at the Normandie Law Firm as soon as possible.
Our recall lawyers have decades of experience and are more than ready to provide you with the guidance that you need to begin or continue your claim.
The Injuries that May Occur
Helmets were recalled because they do not comply with a number of requirements, meaning that the helmets will not keep children safe from head injuries if they fall off their bicycle, scooter, etc. In other words, children could potentially suffer concussions, traumatic brain injuries, brain hemorrhaging, skull fractures, etc.
Steps to Take after an Injury
If your child was injured as a result of the defective helmet, you may be wondering what to do. Consider some of the following recommended steps:
- Take photos of the scene of the incident
- Take photos of the injuries sustained
- Take photos of the defective product
- Seek medical attention as soon as possible
- Contact the company and report the harm suffered
- Do not agree to a refund, a repair, or a replacement product
- Do not dispose of the product (keep the helmet in a safe place where it will not be tampered with in any way or used)
- Gather any video footage of the incident
- Speak to witnesses and collect their contact information
- Gather all medical records
- Seek legal help as soon as possible
