On April 2, 2026, Sangoho issued a recall for their Adult Portable Bed Rails. According to the recall, number 26-378, the recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails because users can become entrapped either within the bed rail or between the bed rail and side of the mattress. This represents a serious risk of entrapment and death by asphyxiation. Additionally, the recalled bed rails do not have the warning labels as required by law.
The recall affects about 36,500 units of the product (the company had previously recalled about 26,200 units of the bed rails in a January 2026 recall).
The recall includes two models of the Sangohe-branded portable bed rails: model 504E and model 504Q. Model 504E is a black bed rail that measures 23 inches wide by 35 inches tall and weighs nine pounds. The model number can be found on the outer packaging box as well as on the product label/sticker attached to the bed rail and on the first page of the instruction manual. The other model, Model 504Q, is also a black bed rail. It measures 28.5 inches wide by 43.3 inches tall and also weighs nine pounds. The model number can also be found on the packaging, the label/sticker attached to the bed rail, and on the first page of the instruction manual.
The recalled bed rails for sold online at Amazon.com from August 2023 through February 2026. Model 504Q was sold for $90 and Model 504E was sold for $110.
According to the recall, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
Affected consumers are being urged to immediately stop using the recalled portable bed rails and contact the company for a full refund. The company is also providing instructions on how consumers can destroy the bed rails and submit proof to get their refund.
However, if you or a member of your family suffered harm as a result of the defective bed rail, is important that you do not simply agree to a refund. Instead, you should explore the legal options available to you as soon as possible. If you are ready to speak with a recall lawyer, contact the team here at the Normandie Law Firm as soon as possible.
The Injuries that May Occur
Bed rails are designed to be used by elderly people or those who are medically frail. They are supposed to prevent falls and help provide support while getting into and out of beds. Unfortunately, defective bed rails can result in incidents that can lead to injuries to those who are already vulnerable to incidents and likely to become injured. When someone becomes entrapped, their chest or neck can become compressed, making it hard for them to breath and leading to oxygen deprivation. In just minutes, oxygen deprivation can lead to unconsciousness and can result in brain damage. Extended oxygen deprivation can be fatal.
No matter the harm that occurred as a result of the defective product, it is important for consumer to explore the legal options available to them.

Currently, there is no class action claim. However, class actions and mass torts claims are very common when it comes to defective products.
