Bridge Collapse and Deck Collapse Incidents

The Stahlman Park Event Center was completely rebuilt in 2010 after is was damaged by a hurricane. With any building that is on a beach, or even near a beach, the building is elevated and is surrounded by a deck. This is the case at Stahlman Park. The premises is elevated and has a deck surrounding it. There are some sorts of bridges connecting some of the decks.

These decks have been around for over a decade since the park was last rebuilt after a hurricane. However, wooden decks are known to deteriorate over time. If property owners fail to identify and address the different hazards present throughout their premises, then they can directly contribute to incidents and harm to unsuspecting guests. Some examples of the hazards that property owners could have failed to identify and address include rotten wood on the deck, broken wooden planks, misplaced wooden planks, missing screws, etc. The fact is that property owners often fail to take action to address hazards on their premises, resulting in accidents that can significantly harm guests.

As mentioned above, many of the teenagers involved in the deck collapse incident sustained injuries. Details about the injuries resulting from the incident have not been released.
