Tanker Truck Catches Fire in Fresno County | 9-19-2017

A gas tanker caught fire in Fresno County Monday night in the area of Central and Highway 99 just south of Fresno. Local CHP officers reported that a rear tire popped and caught fire, and a valve came loose on the truck as well. Fire crews arrived at the scene and were able to put it out quickly. According to a statement by Sgt. Manuel Pegrenia of the CHP the time of day when the accident occurred made cleaning the highway much easier. An estimated 10 to 12 gallons of gas spilled, but the leak was eventually contained. No one was hurt by the fire, and there has been no word as to what sparked the fire. Central between Maple and Chestnut was closed off for several hours.
