On February 26, 2026, Hisense issued a recall for their Babysense Max View Baby Monitors. According to the recall, number 26-307, the display unit (or “parent” unit) of the Max View baby monitors can overheat and spark while charging, which poses a fire risk to consumers. The recall affects approximately 81,000 units of the product.

The affected baby monitor has model number VBM55. The issue affects the display unit or parent unit that allows parents to see/hear the baby; the camera component of the product is not affected. The display unit has “5.5” HD 1080P” printed on the upper left side of the monitor screen; the “babysense” logo is located on the lower portion of the monitor screen. On the back of the product, there is an identification label with model number “VBM55RX” printed on it.

According to the recall, there have been 11 reported incidents including the recalled Babysense Max View Baby Monitors, although no injuries have been reported.

The baby monitors were sold online via Walmart.com, Amazon.com, and babylist.com from January 2023 through December 2025 for prices ranging from $90 and $180.

Affected consumers are being urged to stop using the display unit of the recalled Max View baby monitors and contact Hisense for a free replacement display unit.

Although a free replacement unit may seem like a reasonable solution for those who have only been inconvenienced by the recall, consumers who have been harmed by the defective product should not agree to a free replacement. Instead, they should seek legal help. If you or your family were injured as a result of the defective display unit of the baby monitor, you could file a lawsuit. Contact our team today to learn more about the legal options available to you and your family.

    The Injuries that May Occur

As explained above, the recalled product poses a fire risk to consumers because it can overheat and spark while charging. This can cause a fire that could result in extensive property damage and even injuries. Injuries may include burns (ranging in severity), smoke inhalation injuries, disfigurement, psychological harm, and more.

No matter the specific injuries that occur, it is important that you explore the legal options available to you.

    Recommended Steps to Take

You may have questions about what to do if you or your family was harmed by the defective product. Consider some of the following recommended steps:

    • Take photos of any visible injuries
    • Take photos of all visible property damage
    • Take photos of the scene of the incident
    • Take photos of the defective product
