Sexual Abuse of Elderly Patients Receiving Care
Unfortunately, the abuse of elderly individuals who are under the care of others, whether this is hospice care, nursing homes, or in-home care, is very common. So-called “medical professionals” abuse their positions and their proximity to vulnerable individuals to sexually assault their patients. In many cases, these nurses get away with their crimes because their victims cannot report the attacks or because they are not taken seriously.
Sexual abuse may include rape, attempted rape, sodomy, forced oral sex, taking photos/videos of the victim, and more. This can lead to extensive injuries, including but not limited to injuries to genitals, internal injuries, fractures, lacerations, bruising, and psychological harm (like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and more). If an elderly member of your family suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a nurse, it is important that you seek legal help as soon as possible.
