Werner Aluminum Ladders Recall Class Action Lawsuit Lawyers defective product

On June 20, 2018, Werner issued a recall for their Multi-Purpose Telescoping Aluminum Ladders. According to the recall, number 19-179, the ladders can potentially break while in use. This poses a fall hazard to users. The recall affects approximately 78,000 units of the product.

More specifically, the recall includes five models of the ladders that can all be used in multiple positions (as a twin step ladder, stairway step ladder, extension ladder, wall ladder, and as scaffold bases). The ladders have a load capacity of 375 pounds. The following model numbers (printed on a label on the side of the ladder rail) and date codes (stamped on the inside of the outer leg of the ladder under the bottom step) are included in the recall:

    • Model # MT-IAA-13A with date codes 121744XX or 011844XX (13 feet)
    • Model # MT-IAA-17A (17 feet)
    • Model # MT-IAA-22A (22 feet)
    • Model # MT-IAA-26 (26 feet)
    • Model # MT-IAA-26A (26 feet)

The defective ladders were sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s stores around the country from April 2018 through May 2018 for prices ranging from $180 to $275. The company received one report of the product breaking during use, resulting in an elbow injury. The company urged consumers to stop using the ladders immediately and return them to the store for a full refund.
