    On April 21, 2022, Eagle Industrial Group issued a recall for their SafeRacks brand and Mostrerrax brand Overhead Garage Storage Racks. According to the recall, recall number 22-742, the hex bolts in the storage racks can be defective. The defect poses a risk of the overhead storage racks falling and impacting anyone in the immediate area. The recall affects approximately 12,800 units of the product.

    The recall includes all seven sizes of the SafeRacks/Monsterrax Overhead Garage Storage Racks:

    • 4 ft. x 4 ft.
    • 4 ft. x 8 ft.
    • 2 ft. x 6 ft.
    • 3 ft. x 6 ft.
    • 4 ft. x 6 ft.
    • 3 ft. x 8 ft.
    • 2 ft. x 8 ft.

    These racks are industrial-strength steel racks. They are height-adjustable and attach to the ceiling. They were available in two colors: gray or white.

    The defective storage racks were sold online from September 2021 to December 2021for approximately $140 each via Costco.com, saferacks.com, monsterrax.com, amazon.com, and other sites.

    According to the recall, there have been at least 55 confirmed reports of the overhead storage racks falling. One report consisted of the corners of the storage rack falling and bruising and cutting a consumer’s face.

    The company is urging affected consumers to unload the storage racks and contact them for free replacement bolts.
