Lawsuit for St. Croix 18-year-old man killed in car accident 8-1-2017

18-Year-Old Dies in Fatal Car Crash

Our attorneys are currently investigating the possibility of personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits against all defendants responsible for an accident that occurred on 8-1-2017.

An 18-year-old man from St. Croix was killed in a car accident on August 1, 2017. The accident occurred in Cloverdale, CA on Tuesday night.

The accident was a rollover crash which occurred on Highway 101, north of Cloverdale. According to a publication by Press Democrat, the accident affected three other individuals which sustained minor injuries, including two women from Ukiah, CA (aged 18 and 24), and another man from the same territory – all in the same car.

The man was identified as Zion James, nephew of Senator Positive Nelson.

It is believed the two men in the vehicle who were thrown out of the vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts. It is not known why the 24-year-old woman lost control of the vehicle. The female passenger managed to get out the vehicle on her own, but firefighters had to help the driver.

Zion James lost his life on the scene.

Car crashes are incredibly distressing to all involved in the accident. While most car crashes hardly leave a scratch, there are still many accidents which cause real damage to people, that damage can have life altering consequences. If you were involved in a car accident, it is important that you contact a personal injury attorney to help you get the maximum compensation which you deserve for being a victim of a car accident. If you try and do everything on your own, you might only add unnecessary stress to your already stressful situation – and to make things even worse, you may miss out on valuable compensation which may help you pay for things like medical bills, pain & suffering, lost wages, and property damage.

    Damages Available to You
“Damages” refer to the amount of compensation which can be awarded to the plaintiff for the negligent acts of the defendant – in this case, the money that is awarded to you by another driver’s negligence. Below are the damages which can be awarded to you if you have a team of competent lawyers by your side.

    • Bodily Injury – If the car accident affected you and you received bodily injury which required medical attention, the bodily injury damages you receive may help pay for the medical bills you get for receiving treatment. If your injuries require future treatment, your compensation can include those potential costs.
    • Pain & Suffering –Car accidents are traumatic events which can really affect someone’s psyche. Death, serious injury, lifestyle changes can cause emotional stresses which can overwhelm anyone. You can receive compensation for the emotional trauma you received from the accident.
    • Lost Wages – The injuries you receive from a car accident may force you to miss work. And when you miss work, you often don’t get paid. If you had to miss work because of an accident, you could get compensation for a number of hours you missed at your normal rate of pay.
    • Property Damage – A car may never have made any sort of impact on your body in order for you to file a claim. If a car crashed and destroyed/damaged your property, you can receive compensation to repair or replace your damaged property.

If you were in a car accident, you need competent lawyers to represent and help you throughout the entire process.
